In its February 2007 issue, the editors of Videomaker magazine named the AKG Perception 100 as one of its “best products of the year.” Every year the magazine’s editors take a look back at all the products they’ve reviewed in the past year and pick out the best consumer video products.
For a product to qualify for an award, it must have begun shipping in the 2006 calendar year, and it must have passed through Videomaker editors for examination. Videomaker evaluates products on five criteria:
Empowerment - how effective the product is at helping videographers be more creative and effective at video production.
Quality – a product must be put together well, durable and show excellence in its category.
Usability - how user-friendly it is.
Innovation - it should have some inventive or original features.
Performance - it must work consistently, effectively and provide a good value for the price.
The editors of the magazine felt like the Perception 100 met these criteria very well. When they reviewed the microphone, they said “The Perception 100 is definitely worth its price and certainly looks, feels and sounds like a very professional piece of audio equipment.”
