The microphone shall be a studio-quality hypercardioid condenser microphone. It shall include bass rolloff and +6-dB output level selectors for adjusting the microphone's frequency response and sensitivity to the application at hand. The transducer shall use an extremely thin, gold sputtered diaphragm to ensure excellent reproduction and transient response. The transducer shall be shock mounted in a 3-point suspension to suppress footfall, handling, and cable noises. A complex internal windscreen system shall protect the microphone from wind and pop noise. The frequency range of the microphone shall be 20 Hz to 20 kHz, its sensitivity at 1 kHz 6 mV/Pa, max. SPL 142 dB SPL (for 3% THD), signal/noise ratio 74 dB (A-weighted). The microphone shall measure 50 mm in dia. x 186 mm long, be finished in matte black, and weigh 290 g. The microphone shall be the C 5900M made by AKG.
