AKG WMS 40 Update & Facelift

Today at the 2008 Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany, AKG revealed its new and improved design for the WMS 40 wireless system product range, adding a sleeker, more professional look to the system’s singular audio quality. In addition, two new sets have been added to the WMS 40 family of applications.

The redesigned handheld transmitter features the same robust wiremesh cap used on the new D 5 and C 5 microphones; its springsteel construction lending great protection. The improved capsule mounting reduces handling noise while the inner windscreen keeps popping in check.

WMS 40 products come in a variety of system sets, serving any need across the music and AV industries. All sports sets include the new MicroMic headset C 555 -an ideal microphone for any hands-free application such as gymnastics instruction, presentations, or onstage performance. The cardioid polar pattern guarantees optimum audio and intelligibility even at high ambient noise levels.

In addition, the WMS 40 update extends to the series’ two newest sets: the Transformer Set and the Guitar Set. The Transformer Set utilizes the Snapon transmitter, instantly making any dynamic microphone wireless. The Guitar Set -with the patented Guitarbug transmitter - easily fits any guitar, bass or other instrument with a quarter-inch jack connector.

“This is a great update to an extremely versatile range of products,” said Thomas Umbauer, Product Manager for AKG. “When combined with the miniature pocket transmitter and the MicroMic Series, the field of application is nearly limitless -offering wireless capabilities for headsets and instrument mics as well as instrument pick-ups and amplifiers.”
